You should know that your donations are being used effectively. You can view all of our information on our financials here.

An important mission like ours takes intentional planning and financial support to accomplish. Most of our staff are currently employed through grant funded positions. Other grants we receive offer restricted funds for very specific needs. Our operational costs (the costs of doing business) is approximately $65,000 which is predominately not included in grants. We cover these expenses through fundraising, sponsorships and our sustainer program.

Grant Funding

A grant is a way the government funds your ideas and projects to provide public services and stimulate the economy. Grant applications take many hours and lots of works! Wanda Joyce is grateful to have received several grants to help us work in Franklin County.

Some things to know…

Grant applications take many hours to complete. After grants are awarded, time is spent weekly to monitor and manage finances and outcomes.

Grants do not last forever. Grant money has an expiration date. An organization must constantly seek out and apply for grant funds.

  • Federal grants are paid on a reimbursement schedule. In order to receive grant funding, an organization much have money in the bank to cover expenses up front.

  • When organizations receive a federal grant, they have to pay taxes, auditing and other admin expenses.

  • At Wanda Joyce, employees that accept a grant funded position do so knowing it is not a guaranteed position and it does not offer benefits.

  • At Wanda Joyce, all personnel costs include salary, employer taxes, unemployment insurance and accounting services. At this time, we are unable to offer benefits or insurance to our employees.
