Scholarship Check In: Trinity
As we get ready to award our 2024 Adam Hyatt Memorial Scholarship, we wanted to check in with one of our past recipients to see how they were doing.
Trinity graduated from Western Hills High School in 2023 and is currently attending Galen College of Nursing in Louisville, where she will be graduating next year with her RN. From there, she will be pursuing her nursing career and a side passion for real estate. Talking with Trinity you can tell she loves nursing school and is on the right path to a fulfilling career.
Her mom has been justice involved throughout Trinity’s entire life. Originally from Tennessee, Trinity moved here at the start of the 2020 pandemic. Unfortunately for her and us, that didn’t give Wanda J much time to connect with her before high school graduation.
Wanda J is a big fan of positive relationships and Trinity found that with her aunt and uncle. They inspired her to get into nursing and real estate. Since they both work in those careers, Trinity was able to get an inside look into what her future may hold before making big decisions after school. She said, “They have made a huge impact on my life in a very positive way.”
Trinity is looking forward to be more connected with Wanda J after she’s finished with school. She knows we believe in the power of relationships and the support that someone like her can offer to one of our younger kids. Having adults who understand our youth and have first hand experience with their situations is a game changer for our programs. She has already made Wanda J proud and we hope to see more of her soon!
“Without God, I couldn’t of made it this far.” – Trinity
About our Scholarship
Adam Hyatt was a part of Franklin County High School for over 10 years and anyone who knew Mr. Hyatt knew this; Adam was a devout Christian, loved his family, his students, and FCHS. Mr. Hyatt passed away in July 2019.
WJRF awarded our first high school graduate with a scholarship in May 2019. It is with great honor that we rename this award the Adam Hyatt Memorial Scholarship. Any graduating senior impacted by incarceration is eligible to apply. We look forward to granting this annual award in Adam’s name, a man who lived his life to serve others.
